2016 so far has been off to a great start!
In February, we kicked off our monthly networking event Sips + Tips with a feature on Women in Science, where we heard from Nikita Virani of Wizdy, Danielle Olson of Gique, and Dr. Diana Rodriguez, Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist. The event was held at the Charlesmark Hotel & Lounge in Copley Square - one of my favorite local venues. We were also joined by ladies from the Big Sister Association who talked to us about their efforts to get more women involved as Big Sisters, something that I've done for over 4 years now and highly encourage! It was a great evening with tasty h'ordeurves, intimate conversations, and inspiring takeaways. Click here for pictures!
This March, I was interviewed by Banu Ozkazanc-Pan, a faculty member at UMass Boston and recipient of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation who is conducting a research project on the challenges women entrepreneurs face in Boston. This exciting study, which is also being supported by WeBos - the city's new initiative for female entrepreneurship - looks at the experiences of female business leaders, particularly those of color. The final report will be out later this year, so stay tuned!
On March 22nd we'll host our second Sips + Tips which will feature @BostonTweet who will talk about the Art of Failure. @BostonTweet, otherwise known as Tom O'Keefe, is the founder of Flutter - a platform that encourages folks to donate to a charity that results in a once-in-a-lifetime experience - and DownloadBoston - a local movement to increase the awareness of Boston-based startups in the city and beyond. This will be a session around bootstrapping, entrepreneurship, and the climb to the top. If you're interested in attending, make sure to register by clicking here!
This spring, I partnered with Latonia Francois of Let's Write Life to host the first annual Best of Me Summit. This women's retreat is a 3-day conference where women will have the chance to network with other professionals, gain an abundance of knowledge through a variety of workshops, and reflect through journaling. The Best of Me Summit exists to improve the everyday lives of women through passion, purpose, and positivity. We aim to elevate their well-being, confidence, and clarity through workshops that develop self-expression and empower them to achieve success by their own terms. Guided by the potential women have to reach their dreams, we inspire them to become the BEST of who they are destined to be. We are currently looking for sponsors, workshop facilitators, and in-kind donations for our VIP Swag Bags! If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about this event, simply contact us at email@example.com
Everything we do at L.I.R. is done out of pocket, so the support of community partners is imperative to our success, growth, and continuation. As a business that believes in collaboration and giving back, we know that every bit of support counts. If you are interested in showing your support - financially, through partnership, or with an in-kind gift - please click here!
I look forward to meeting you at a future event, and hopefully positively impacting you along the way! Cheers to a year filled with passion, positivity, and purpose!
