An All Bodies Celebration Prom Re-Do

Somerville, MA— Prom season has got us all nostalgic, so we’ve decided to give everyone a re-do with an opportunity to live out their teenage dreams. ONCE Somerville + Pop Culture Positive have teamed up to bring you a celebration of all bodies! Dress up (or down), dance out the world’s negativity, and be free of judgement in a space welcoming to all body sizes. On Wednesday, July 31st, we are hosting the Second Chance Dance an all bodies celebration and prom re-do!

Admission to the event includes music provided by DJ Sit and Spin, appetizer buffet, and tastings from sponsor Jack’s Abby, photo booth run by The Secret Bureau of Art and Design and a prom court fashion show from Boston based designer Skeletons in the Closet who offer size inclusive options and will be vending at the prom!

The appetizer buffet will feature delectable Polynesian Pork Meatball Skewers, Sweet Garlic and Chili Chicken Wings, Pineapple and Red Pepper Vegetable Skewers and Arepa with Chili Verde Black Beans and Cheese. For purchase at the bar, classic cocktails with a twist. Plus several varieties of seasonal Jack’s Abby including the Blood Orange Wheat on tap!

ONCE Somerville is a venue that hosts unique One Night Creative Events. The upstairs Lounge has a friendly, neighborhood vibe where you can grab a cocktail, see a show, and play a game of pinball or pool all at the same time. The downstairs Ballroom—featuring chandeliers, a parquet dance floor, a recently renovated bar, and a great sound system and stage—is perfect for music, comedy, dance, vendor, and other special events and parties seeking a grand space.

Popularly Positive was founded in 2018, with the intent to provide a bold, interactive publication for women focused on replacing the ideal body image with self-love and acceptance. Through partnerships with contributing writers, influencers, brands and non-profit organizations, PopPos hopes to build a network of powerful resources for women who want to be supported in their journey to self-love and expression.
